Patrick Mahomes now knows when his Chiefs will meet the 49ers during the 2024 NFL season
The 2024 NFL schedule is slowly trickling out ahead of its wider public release on Wednesday night. More and more of the marquee matchups are being announced — for example, we now know that the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers will play the season’s first Monday Night Football game, while the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, in a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game.
The Chiefs won that game in January and moved on to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas against the 49ers. That championship bout was an instant classic, and it took a Patrick Mahomes touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman in overtime to seal the deal — and Kansas City’s second consecutive Super Bowl title. Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs know when the rematch will be during the upcoming regular season.
Although it has not been officially announced as of Tuesday night, NFL insider Jordan Schultz has reported that the Chiefs and the 49ers will meet again on Oct. 25, in a nationally-televised game on FOX. This falls during Week 7 of the 2024 season.
Schultz later added that this game will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California — where the 49ers posted a 7-3 record in 2023, including the playoffs. It should be another daunting task for the Chiefs, who already know they will begin the season by facing the Ravens and the rejuventated Cincinnati Bengals.
