STAYING IN SHAPE Jason Kelce reveals reason he still travels to Philadelphia Eagles practice facility regularly despite NFL retirement
Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL this offseason after 13 years with the Eagles.
However, despite having hung up his cleats, Kelce continues to head to the NovaCare Complex on a regular basis.
In a recent interview during Mike Quick’s golf tournament, he explained that this was partly because he enjoyed being around his now-former teammates, as per NBC Sports’ Philadelphia affiliate.
“Part of it is just getting a free lift down in the NovaCare,” Kelce said.
“I’ve gotten accustomed to going down there. I love going down there. It keeps me involved with it.
“Whether it’s being around the guys, being around the coaches, my mind in the game from what teams are doing to try and prepare for this coming season.
“And things the defense is getting ready to do.
“The game is always evolving and if you want to stay knowledgeable about it you have to continue to stay involved, stay around the game, stay around the guys that are in it, coaches that are in it.
“For me, I kind of get a two-fer. I get to be able to work out and kind of poke my head around a little bit.”
But while Eagles fans will likely love seeing Kelce continue to appear around the team’s facilities, don’t expect him to unretire any time soon.
Discussing his heir apparent, Cam Jurgens, Kelce was extremely high on the third-year lineman.
