In a deeply sorrowful announcement, Mathew Knowles, the father of superstar Beyoncé, has shared a tragic update about his health.

At 72 years old, Mathew Knowles has faced numerous challenges, including a battle with breast cancer that he bravely overcame. However, recent developments have brought a new wave of concern and heartache to his family and fans alike.

Mathew Knowles first opened up about his struggle with breast cancer in a candid interview, hoping to raise awareness about the disease, especially among men. Despite being rare, male breast cancer is a serious health issue that can be easily overlooked. Knowles’ own battle began when he noticed a “small, recurring dot of blood” on his shirt.

This seemingly minor symptom led to a diagnosis that would change his life forever.

“I was in disbelief,” Knowles said in an interview with People magazine. After undergoing a mammogram and biopsy, it was confirmed that he had breast cancer, the same disease that claimed the lives of his mother, aunt, and great aunt.The American Cancer Society notes that male breast cancer is rare, accounting for only about 1% of new breast cancer cases in 2015. Despite these odds, Mathew Knowles found himself facing this daunting diagnosis.

Fortunately, Knowles caught his cancer early, at Stage 1A, which significantly improved his prognosis. He underwent a mastectomy to remove the breast tissue but did not require chemotherapy.
