Meghan Markle faces insurmountable challenge as ‘improbable’ royals will welcome her back
Meghan Markle would struggle to reconcile with the Royal Family even if they agreed to resume relations with Prince Harry, a PR expert has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex has had a frosty relationship with members of the Duke’s family since before the pair stepped down from their official roles in March 2020.
Over the past four years, Meghan has repeatedly decried the alleged treatment she received while a working member of the family, claiming she had received little guidance and support as she settled into her new role.
Harry has returned on multiple occasions to the UK, and joined his family to attend the King’s Coronation last year, the Duchess hasn’t set foot in the country since after the late Queen’s funeral.
PR expert Renae Wąsik told the Daily Express reconciliation would be difficult for the Duke but noted it is entirely “improbable” Meghan could fix her relationship with the royals in the short term.
Wąsik said: “Even if Harry reconciles from a familial angle, I don’t see it extending to Meghan, as she isn’t considered ‘family’ by the Royal Family and has shown no interest in the working side of her previous role.
‘In terms of Meghan reuniting with the Royal Family separately or salvaging her public image in the UK, it would be challenging.
“Her past comments have significantly impacted her relationship with the institution, and the British public holds strong opinions.”
The Duchess’s popularity ratings have experienced considerable drops since she and Harry unveiled plans to leave the institution.
The Atticism founder added: “While she might be able to improve her image over time, winning back trust and acceptance within the Royal Family and the public as a whole seems improbable.”
