Travis Kelce claims one rookie has ‘a lot of upside’ after watching him during the OTAs
The Kansas City Chiefs are concluding their second day of their three-day mandatory minicamp training and Travis Kelce took to the media to highlight Jared Wiley’s raw talent.
NFL mandatory minicamp follows the same nucleus as the previous OTAs but the players are bound to an agreement.
Per the collective bargaining agreement, all players are required to be present at minicamp otherwise they are subject to fines based on the days they miss.
Key players like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones are in attendance, as they rekindle chemistry with fellow veterans and develop their early relationships with the rookies.
Travis Kelce praises the early development of Jared Wiley in the offseason
Tight end Kelce took to the stage and waxed lyrical about the new rookie Jared Wiley when conversing with the media.
The fourth-round rookie out of Texas Christian University joins a deep position group on the Chiefs roster.
Moreover, Wiley is the second tight end addition to the group in the offseason, with Irv Smith Jr. signing from the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency.
Both Kelce and Wiley share a similar football path as the pair started as quarterbacks before pivoting to tight end.
The 23-year-old was rewarded with the First-Team All-Big 12 honor and landed in Kansas City with one of the best role models in the game.
